Get comfortable with the carrier

Make the carrier a normal part of home life instead of something that only appears on vet day. Leave it out with a soft blanket inside and toss a few treats in now and then so your cat wanders in on their own. A carrier that already smells like home is a huge head start.

On the road

Secure the carrier so it will not slide, keep your voice calm and reassuring, and avoid feeding a big meal right before you leave. Build up to longer trips gradually, and never leave your cat alone in a warm car. A familiar scent helps, so tuck in a favorite toy or a pinch of catnip like a Yeowww catnip tub, and reward calm behavior with a few Plato chicken and catnip treats.
